LA BANDIERA: Sul campo bianco c’è uno scudo blu con l’immagine di un nativo americano massachusetts. Tiene un arco in una mano e una freccia nell’altra. La freccia verso il basso rappresenta la pace. La stella bianca rappresenta il Massachusetts come uno dei tredici stati originali. Intorno allo scudo blu c’è il motto di questo stato: "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty" (Dalla spada cerchiamo la pace, ma la pace soltanto sotto la libertà"). La bandiera è stata adottata nel 1915 ed emendata nel 1971. |
